Derinocheirus
Deinocheirus was a massive, unusual theropod dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, around 70 million years ago, in what is now Mongolia. Unlike most large theropods, it was primarily an omnivore, feeding on plants, small animals, and fish, and is famous for its enormous arms and huge, clawed hands. Its habitat consisted of floodplains, rivers, and forested areas, where it could forage for diverse food sources while avoiding larger predators. This combination of size, strength, and unusual adaptations made Deinocheirus a distinctive and versatile member of its ecosystem.

Behavior
Deinocheirus is a mostly solitary or small-group omnivore, typically consisting of a breeding pair of adults with young that leave once reaching sub-adulthood. It forages for plants, small animals, and fish in floodplains and forested areas. While generally peaceful, it can defend itself effectively using its massive size, powerful arms, and large claws when threatened by predators or rivals. Although not an aggressive hunter, Deinocheirus will display defensive behaviors such as posturing or slashing with its claws to protect itself, its young, or its feeding grounds, relying on caution and intimidation rather than prolonged combat.

Deinocheirus prefers hidden or secluded sites near water and shows careful parental attention to eggs and hatchlings, guarding them against medium to large-sized predators.

A fierce rivalry exists between Deinocheirus and Tyrannotitan, born from their shared claim to fertile riverbanks and rich feeding grounds. Both giants depend on waterways, Deinocheirus for plants and fish, Tyrannotitan for prey drawn to the same shores, and their overlapping ranges often spark violent confrontations.
Normally peaceful, Deinocheirus becomes fiercely defensive when a Tyrannotitan invades its territory, using its massive arms, size, and booming calls to intimidate the intruder. Tyrannotitan, however, sees the bulky omnivore as both a rival and a potential meal, refusing to back down easily.
When battles erupt, they are brutal and short-lived; if the Deinocheirus becomes too injured to continue the fight on land, it will instinctively retreat into deep water for safety, using the terrain as both a shield and an escape. This constant tension has forged an ancient rivalry, one written in muddy riverbanks and echoed in the roars that roll across the floodplains.
