Lateniventrix

The Lateniventrix (Narrow Claw Lizard) lived during the late Cretaceous period in parts of what is now known as Canada. This incredible “raptor” was very closely related to the Stenonychosaurus, with most paleontologists having trouble differentiating between the two while reviewing their bone structure and habitat. What is known is that they lived in diverse ecosystems or forests, grasslands, and swamps, coexisting with many other creatures.

Behavior

The Lateniventrix was a very social Troodontid, and is known to be much louder and more vocal than other raptors, using trilling and hissing calls as well as using its body language to communicate with one another. The Lateniventrix is also known to group with Deinonychus to assist in hunting packs (This could range from 2-4) at a time. The Lateniventrix is known to have the highest brain-to-body ratio of any non-avian dinosaur. They were also known to have large eyes positioned forward; troodontids are believed to have had excellent nocturnal vision and depth perception. There is also evidence from other closely related troodons that suggests the possibility of communal nests to which implies a nurturing aspect to their behavior, with parents potentially cooperating in the care for their young.

Mandatory Traits

I am Darkness

The Lateniventrix has exceptional vision and hearing and is an active nocturnal hunter, using the cover of darkness to ambush prey typically in packs of 4-6 using the bushes and cover of darkness to scare their prey with swift single strikes to injure their prey but also distract them before disappearing again to let one of the other pack members go in and attack as well.

Friend or Foe

The Lateniventrix and the Deinonychus get along so well that they often when they see each other, they will circle around one another in excitement (friendly call), and once they have realized they are friends, not foes, they will group together for easier hunting and a less solitary lifestyle. If their companions perish in battle, then they will be mourned deeply (Claw emote and “?” emote).

You See this, You Like This

The Lateniventrix is a very social creature and since being so it is curious of other small “birds” and “raptors” like it, if they see another creature roughly the same size as them (slightly bigger or smaller) they will crouch near it with its head down to show that they are not a threat and if they do not run away the Laten will be begin to show itself off by standing in place and circling either direction 2 times and after will use one of the 2 emotes (Broadcast once, or Friendly call).

Optional Traits

Bush Bush Bush

Lateniventrix can be very curious but also very cautious. When they see a larger carnivore, they will “stalk” from a minimum of 2 Deinosuchus lengths away. When “stalking,” they will strictly use bushes to hide in an attempt to stay completely out of sight of whatever it is they are following. If the carnivore enters an open plane with little to no bushes or cover, they will either attempt to move to a bush to continue following, or they will give up entirely and will use their broadcast call to “thank” them for their travels.

OoO Heat

The Lateniventrix would rather have heatstroke than be cold. Although it is covered in feathers, it prefers to be warmer than is necessary, and it is not scared of cuddling up with bigger creatures, such as the Dominus, to ensure it stays warm by lying under their wings to make sure no heat escapes.
